A practical marketplace listing audit checklist

A clear way to review product listings before making marketplace content changes.

Start with the product facts

Gather the approved product name, attributes, variations, measurements, materials, compliance notes, and available media before editing a listing. This prevents teams from solving a wording problem while the real issue is missing or conflicting product data.

Treat each marketplace as a channel with its own requirements. A field that is optional in one channel may be central to discoverability or approval in another. Keep a source of truth for product facts, then adapt it carefully for each channel.

Review the customer-facing path

Read the title, bullets, description, images, category, and attributes as a customer would. Check whether the listing answers the basic questions: what is it, who is it for, what makes it different, and what information is needed to choose the right option.

Look for gaps between the image set and the written content. Images should clarify the product rather than repeat an unrelated visual style. Written claims should stay within the information you can support.

Document the next change

Record the current issue, the proposed update, the source used to support it, the channel affected, and the person who will review it. This creates a small, usable operating record instead of an untraceable series of edits.

An audit is most useful when it ends with a short priority list. Start with accuracy, required attributes, and customer clarity before aesthetic refinements.
